How To Pimp Your Wedding Cake

I’ll be honest – I’ve always found wedding cakes to be really boring. They’re a lot of money to not have too much of a purpose. We’ve come up with idea thats fun for everyone, will make your cake stand out and will ensure everyone gets the flavour they really wanted.

We’re inspired lately by the ‘Pimp Your Pancake’ stations (take a peek on Pinterest – they’re awesome) so we’ve decided to combine this idea with our wedding cake. The idea is that you get a very plain wedding cake in white sponge and have different toppings laid out so that everyone can add to their bowl.

This way, everyone gets the flavour they want and it’s another fun things for your guests to enjoy. For added bonus it’s quite cheap to do!

The pictured that inspired us…

Some of these below might sound strange on a wedding cake. Remember the goal is for the guests to have fun, not to make the best tasting cake.

For The Big Kids:

Jelly beans, marshmallow fluff,Β gold edible glitter spray, coconut shavings, mini marshmallows, writing icing pens,Β 100s & 1000s sprinkles, gold balls, glitter strands and butterscotch pieces are all going to please the big kids of your guests.

For the Syrup Lovers:

Chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, golden syrup and honey are the major ones but get some squeezy bottles and also have generic syrups like strawberry flavour.

For The Chocoholics:

Ground chocolate coated coffee beans, chocolate spread, dark chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, chocolate stars, grated chocolate shavings and chocolate buttons are all going to go down well with chocolate lovers.

For The Fruit Fanatics:

Sliced strawberries, blueberries & raspberries. These fruits will stay fresh in the summer heat and won’t turn brown like bananas will. Also include jam, marmalade and other preservatives if you think people will use them. You can also buy mixed fruit bags nearer christmas time for cheap.
